Making a Statement

As this relief commission will be funded by the Mughal Empire to show that their Persian influence will not overpower the Hindu culture, absolute professionalism must be upheld. Especially when so much creative freedom has been given to really represent our culture’s base, powerful beliefs in one section of temple wall. The politics at hand are so very touchy within the ruling family that whereas a monetary compensation would be the norm, we shall accept gifts of favor and power instead (Bolon).

We sincerely hope that this relief design will bring more citizens back to the more peaceful, contemplative Hindu philosophy rather than the violent, oppressive ideas inherent within the Islam religion that the Mughals spread (“Mughal Dynasty”). As it is clearly put in The Taittiriya Upanishad,

[6]
“The Lord of Love dwells in the hearts of all,
To realize him is to go beyond death.”
“…Thus one becomes king of his own life, ruler
Of his passions, senses, and intellect.
He is united with the Lord of Love,
Who is truth, peace, and immortality,
The source of joy, the supreme goal of life.
Meditate always on the Lord of Love.”

Through this meditation and realization of the Self we must continue. We must detach ourselves from physical wants and reach for higher consciousness, as the Lotus flower reaches out of the mud for light (Ranganathan). Any obstacle may be overcome through this way of righteous living. This is the message that we intend to express through our design.
